The OECD’s annual Revenue Statistics report found that the tax-to-GDP ratio in Slovenia increased by 0.2 percentage points from 37.2% in 2020 to 37.4% in 2021. Between 2020 and 2021, the OECD average increased from 33.6% to 34.1%.

Slovenia has achieved a strong post-pandemic recovery with record-high employment, but high inflation, supply chain bottlenecks and other impacts from the war in Ukraine are draining economic momentum. The OECD Working Group on Bribery is concerned by a request, issued by the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, to open a parliamentary inquiry into corruption prosecutions of a current member of the National Council. The National Assembly, the upper chamber of the Slovenian Parliament, launched the inquiry to investigate what have been alleged to be political motives of the prosecutors and judges involved in these cases.
